I am loving seeing you build out your own shop, giving me ideas how to do my own. Really appreciate you sharing the janky and problem solving - not editing it out. Making me feel better about when I am doing it twice (or more). Looking forward to seeing what you make next.

A low score on the wonky scale is acceptable, when it starts to be janky it’s time to rethink things.

Sam, I really enjoy your unique perspective from having worked in a high end shop to now building out your new shop in your garage, as a hobby. Its nice for me to see that I dont need to do all the fancy joints, work with 8/4 hard maple, and spend 2k on tools for a shop project. Form and function. Staying tuned from Canonsburg.

A nice little bench top planer/jointer would be perfect just to square up 2x4s! I am picking one up this week to do just that... as well as neaten up pallet wood so I can start making table tops/shelves out of it.

It looks a lot like mine. I don’t see the need in having a miter saw shrine made from hardwoods lol. I mean they look beautiful, but it seems like a waste to spend all that money on shop furniture that’s going to get paint and stain on it anyway.

Nice job! I built a functional but ugly miter saw station this spring but in a barn. It works but I’m going to rebuild it to include 4x4 posts for legs so I can use leveling feet as the barn floor anything but level. I also want to add t-track and stop blocks with measuring tape. But I’ll be able to reuse 95 percent of the existing structure.

Ah!! I know how you feel! I bought my SS a year ago. I was SOOO excited! Got it 1/2 way setup and found out it was DOA! The arbor shaft was bad and it would not start. Called support, they were great, but said they were going to send the arbor shaft to my house for me to replace. Mind you, though very mechanically inclined, I am a 5'1" girl. 🫤 I called the shop I bought it from. They were shocked SS was sending me the part. They said they would send a guy out as soon as they could once I got it to install it for me. Well, he couldn't install it. The bolts were so tight he couldn't get the saw apart. I had to wait another week for them to get a saw in and exchange it for me. The second saw has been working flawlessly since. (When the first one came, just two of us gals lifted that monster up and put it on the mobile base. I though we were going to die! But, we did it! Hahaha!)
